Mediterranean Mountain Wine in Malaga

I’m a small wine producer located in Sedella (Designation of Origin Sierras de Málaga), it is a small and beautiful village of 400 inhabitants, and has 2.5 hectares of historic vineyard that is rooted in steep slopes of layered slate. Its altitude (750 m), proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, and the recovered local grape varieties Romé and Red Garnacha form a perfect triplet combination (climate-soil-plant) that provide character and personality to our distinctive wine.

The cultivation of the centenary vines here is done purely in the traditional manner, based on the use of draft animals, Roman plows, and ancestral techniques. This important and demanding work is carried out by my experienced assistants Rafael and Antonio. They are always working enthusiastically, despite the difficulties, these vineyards and these difficult terrains, which they know as their own home. It is impressive to see them work on 45 degree slopes where they seem to defy gravity. The idea of a job well done moves them skillfully and safely down the hillsides..

Wines from la Axarquía

Our wine is not just any wine. This wine represents the climate, landscape, land, people, and vintage of each unique bath. In short, it is the expression of the environment captured in a bottle that speaks through its grape and terroir. This is the magic of wine, not all foods allow us to imagine a landscape through its indulgence.

Beautiful off-the-beaten-track places in Axarquia

The region of the Axarquia is beautiful. I went on holiday there in 2006 with my then girlfriend, now wife Encarnita, and while talking to someone in a bar in Frigiliana, discovered that there are different grape varieties at the highest point in the region. So we decided to explore the area. I met Salvador who showed me a vineyard planted in 1940 with Rome and Garnacha varieties, and even strains of red Jaen, white Moscatel, Calona, and Montua. Historically vines were planted in this way, varieties were planted and mixed and grapes were harvested indifferently from one variety or another.. On that trip in 2006 I bought a few kilos of grapes and did some home experimenting with them. In November of the same year I bought a plot of land and started the Sedella project, which has been more than exciting for me, it is the project of my life.
