Kampot Pepper and Fresh spices from Kampot
Climate and terroir in Kampot allow La Plantation to grow different types of spices such as:
However, organic pepper is La Plantation’s flagship product.
Voted #1 best pepper in the world by chefs and foodies alike, Kampot Pepper develops a unique flavour, thanks to its terroir and the long tradition of artisanal farming in the region of Kampot in southern Cambodia. All varieties of Kampot pepper berries come from the same plants. Different stages of ripeness and processing techniques create a distinct flavour and aroma. Kampot Pepper is registered as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) product since 2010 in Cambodia and 2016 in the European Union.

Red Pepper
At the peak of the dry season, peppercorns mature on the plant and change from yellow to red. A surprising late harvest product. Farmers then clean and sun-dry the pepper. Kampot red pepper is the most renowned in the region. Less spicy than black pepper, foodies appreciate it for its fruity aroma and sweets notes of honey.

White Pepper
This Kamport with pepper comes from the transformation of red pepper. The region is one of the few to practice this unique process. Farmers are required to harvest peppercorns at the prime moment of ripeness. White pepper delivers delightful aromas as well as a spicy taste combined with scents of fresh herbs and lemon.
Pairing: Add it to a warm velvety broccoli dish
Organic farming
La Plantation follows sustainable agriculture practices and is certified organic by Ecocert. The use of organic compost, water management practices, and the fight against insects using natural pesticides are crucial to achieving products that reflect Kampot terroir.
Impact on local communities and small farmers
This organic pepper company has established a Fair Trade program to support small scale farmers in the area.
Product traceability, food safety to avoid contamination, guaranteeing fair purchase price to ensure fair revenue to small farmers, as well as good working conditions are all core principles followed by La Plantation.
The farm also supports children in rural areas allowing them to study. A quality education program that gives local children hope for brighter futures.
The place
Kampot province, in south-west Cambodia, some 140 kilometers from the capital of Phnom Penh, gives the name to the well-know pepper. The land used for pepper cultivation in Kampot stretches from the province of Kampot to Kep (which was recently separated from Kampot) and covers six districts.
Washed by the Gulf of Thailand, the land occupied by Kampot pepper cultivation has a remarkable climate. It benefits from exposure to the sun, sea breezes, high-quality land, and rainfall during the rainy season.
This region is well-known for the beauty of its agricultural landscapes, with palm trees reflecting in the rice fields at sunset, fruit trees (mangos, durian) and imposing pepper trees rising towards the sun. It is also renowned for greeting travelers with a warm welcome from the smiling people living in this area.
